Langara Tennis Group

                                                    April 2007 * Revised October 2008, May 19, 2011

The Langara Tennis Group -Tennis balls usage

The members voted in 2006 to increase the dues by $5.00 and supply balls for the entire playing season or until the $15.00 per member budget is used up.

Our budget allows us to have one case of balls per month and this is divided up among the eight members below having three cans each They are responsible for the distribution and  the proper use and control of these cans. If you arrive at the courts and looking for ball to play please ask one of the below member for a can.

¨ Tong Fook Wah, (T)  Rudy Estacio  (R)  Les Brotherston (LB) -the very early morning group

¨ Shih Shing, (S), Terry Kong, (TK),  James Tsai (JT), Ken Law (KL), George Lau (GL) -early morning

¨ Hugo Chin, (HC), Danny Lin,  (D), Terry Wong  (V)  -late morning

Substitute ball carrier Michael Mak (MM) to fill in when others are away on holidays.

Because we have a limited ball budget we ask that you observe the following.

· When warming up use older ball.

· Balls will be supplied from sunrise to 11.00 AM. After this time you should be using your own balls. *Because of the shorter days from October to March the time will be extended to 12.00 noon.

· If any for the above member has to leave return his balls and  replaced it with balls from one of the other member.

· How can I tell if a tennis ball is "dead?"
The simplest method of determining if a tennis ball is dead is to hold the ball up as high as your forehead and let it drop. If the ball bounce doesn't reach your belly button the ball is dead and should be replaced

· The balls will have the above members initials and they are responsible for the ball in their possession so please return these balls to the above member after play.

· All worn balls no longer fit to use will be returned and disposed of by the executives

The condition of balls provided by the above persons is a subjective matter so it is up to you to convince him that the ball should be changed for a newer set. A reminder that we are not playing in a tournament but  just out for exercise and fun. Since your opponent is using the same balls you will win the game based on your playing ability and not the brand or condition of the ball.

Think of these balls as your own and treat it with care as we do not have a unlimited supply. If you are not happy with using the brand supplied you are welcome to bring your own.
