Policy in regards to Old Members and Guests
It has been brought to our attention that a number of our old members have not paid their membership dues and no longer in good standing with our group. We also have current members bringing their friends to play with us as guests so we would like to clarify this policy.
It should be brought to the attention of the guest and ex members the benefits with belonging to a group such as ours. You do not have to arrange a game….just show up and someone is there to play with you. The economic benefits are numerous. · Pooling our finances and purchasing ball is cheaper that you buying it yourself. · There is no other tennis group that is offering membership at $25.00 for 12 months with balls supplied. · It would cost you a lot more than $25.00 for each of the 10 course dinners · Three Fun Tournaments at $5.00 plus lunch is a bargain.
Because we represent a group of 70+ members we are able to go to the Parks Board and request such benefits as: · Petition and having them replace the old courts with the best tennis courts in Vancouver. · Having the courts powers wash when needed.. · Requesting and getting better quality nets. · Getting the grass and trees cut around the courts. · Paving the pathway around the courts.
If you tried to do this as an individual you would not be able to accomplish this but as a group we have done all of the above. It not just having to pay a very small fee of $25.00 to offset some of our expenses but the friendship that develops far exceeds this small amount.
Old members and guest policy are as follows: Allow to play with us FREE on one occasion between April 1s to March 30 of the following year. Guest fee of $2.00 per visit to be collected by the member that invited the guest. A fifteen dollar fee will be charged to ex members playing with us for over a month to a maximum of six months and ten dollars for less than a month.
In conclusion we are asking that you point out these benefits to the old members and guests. If they are still unwilling to join us then we are asking that you do not encourage them further by playing with them. WE cannot have a guest drop in indefinitely and play for FREE. If we had such a policy then why become a member, just drop in and not pay anything. If you do not agree with this rule we will be more than willing to accept your resignation. They are however entitled to the use of the courts like any other member of the public. |
